Chairman Wu Fulin Conducts Business Investigations in Kenya

From May 8 to 11, Wu Fulin, Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of China conducted business investigations in Kenya, where he met with Zhou Pingjian, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, for an exchange of views on facilitating China-Kenya economic, trade and financial cooperation, and Njuguna S. Ndungu, Cabinet Secretary of the National Treasury and Economic Planning of Kenya, for an in-depth discussion on scaling up cooperation between the two sides and promoting the implementation of key projects. During his stay there, Chairman Wu also held talks with Chinese enterprises in Kenya, and visited Belt and Road projects financed by the Bank.  

When meeting with Cabinet Secretary Ndungu, Chairman Wu said that the Bank played a key role in consolidating China-Africa cooperation and Belt and Road cooperation. In terms of cooperation with Kenya, the Bank, adhering to the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith as well as the philosophy of open, green and clean cooperation, has taken concrete actions to make China-Kenya financial cooperation a model for high-standard, people-centered and sustainable international cooperation. Cabinet Secretary Ndungu appreciated the Banks support for Kenyas economic growth, and looked forward to broader bilateral cooperation in such sectors as manufacturing and renewable energy.    

When meeting with Chinese enterprises in Kenya, Chairman Wu probed into their current business conditions and financial needs, and was updated on their suggestions with regard to bank-enterprise cooperation. Chairman Wu said that the Bank would continue its efforts as a policy bank in improving the quality and efficiency of financial services to facilitate the business development of Chinese enterprises in Kenya, so as to jointly contribute to the high-quality development of China-Africa cooperation. The Chinese enterprises attending the meeting thanked the Bank for its unremitting help and support, and expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation with the Bank and further tap into the African market.     

During his stay in Kenya, Chairman Wu visited the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway and the Nairobi Expressway, among other BRI projects, and looked into the performance of these projects.
