The Souapiti hydropower plant in Guinea financed by China Eximbank got final acceptance recently, marking the successful completion of the project.

With an installed capacity of 450 megawatts, the plant generates 1.899 billion kilowatt-hours of power annually. It plays an important role in implementing the green development philosophy and building the green Belt and Road. The plant, once in operation, will mitigate power shortages in Guinea and provide clean and sustainable electricity to nearly three million residents living around the countrys capital, thus contributing to local economic development and the betterment of peoples lives.

Over recent years, by delivering financial support to electricity, transportation, telecommunication and other sectors, China Eximbank has helped improve infrastructure conditions, promote employment and facilitate economic and social development of Guinea. In the years ahead, the Bank will further leverage its strengths in deepening China-Guinea cooperation to fully implement the nine programs proposed by President Xi Jinping at the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and elevate China-Africa partnership to a new level.
