The handover ceremony of the newly built provincial hospital in Enga, Papua New Guinea (PNG) financed by China Eximbank was held recently.
Living in one of the most populous provinces in PNG, most people in Enga are unable to access basic health services due to limited medical resources. The newly built hospital, covering an area of 31,000 square meters, will be one of the most advanced general hospitals in the country and beyond, and will greatly improve local healthcare standard.
At the ceremony, PNG Prime Minister James Marape expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Chinese government for its support for the high-quality project, describing it as a good example for the country to follow. He also noted that the PNG government will deepen practical cooperation with China in all areas, improve infrastructure throughout the country in healthcare and other areas, and pursue a higher level of development for the overall well-being of the people.
Over the years, China Eximbank, by financing a number of key projects in transportation, communication, electricity and other sectors, has contributed to China-PNG economic cooperation and trade as well as bilateral friendship.
