2022-05-09

Cambodia's National Road No.3 financed by China Eximbank was opened to traffic recently. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian attended the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister expressed appreciation to the Chinese government and the Chinese people for their selfless help to Cambodia. He pointed out that National Road No.3 is an important passage connecting the capital Phnom Penh to the southwestern coastal province. The road was renovated and upgraded by the Chinese company to become wider and smoother. Now it has taken on an entirely new look, and the transportation efficiency and driving safety will be greatly improved. The socio-economic development of regions along the route will also be boosted.

The 134.8-km-long road starting from the western suburb of Phnom Penh runs through Kandal, Kampong Speu and Takeo provinces to the south, and ends at the east side of Kampot. The road will effectively improve the transportation conditions in surrounding areas, strengthen the interconnection between the southwestern coast of Cambodia and the capital Phnom Penh, and promote regional economic development, thereby improving the livelihood of the local people.

China Eximbank has supported a number of key projects involving Cambodia's infrastructure and people's livelihood, including water conservancy, electric power and highway. These projects have effectively promoted bilateral economic cooperation and trade. In the future, China Eximbank will continue to deepen its financing cooperation with Cambodia and help raise China-Cambodia economic cooperation and trade to new heights.
