In the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and the visiting Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Hu Xiaolian, Chairman of China Eximbank and Sinisa Mali, Minister of Finance of Serbia signed the Loan Agreement on Belgrade Bypass Project in Beijing on 18 September 2018.

The bypass, located in southeast of Belgrade, is an enclosed highway with a total length of 20.34km and a design speed of 120km/h. Once completed, it will greatly ease traffic congestion in Belgrade. Moreover, the project is expected to be connected to the No. 10 and No. 11 Pan-European Transport Corridors so that the transportation capacity of the Belgrade region will be enhanced and the Baltic-Adriatic-Mediterranean connectivity will be facilitated.

For years, China Eximbank has financed a number of major projects in Serbia in areas of railway, highway, energy and telecommunication. These projects have contributed to Serbias social and economic development and China-Serbia practical cooperation, thus setting a good example for China-CEEC cooperation.
