Chairman Hu Xiaolian held talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on the morning of 2 September in Beijing. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and key projects. 

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Ali expressed his gratitude for China Eximbank’s long-term support of his country. He was pleased with the good momentum of bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and China Eximbank. He pointed out that given domestic political stability and good relationship with its neighboring countries, Ethiopia had promising growth prospects, and hoped to further deepen bilateral cooperation in a number of areas. 

Chairman Hu Xiaolian said that she was honored to meet His Excellency on the sidelines of 2018 Beijing Summit of FOCAC. She said that China Eximbank supported many projects in Ethiopia, involving many crucial areas related to national welfare and the people’s livelihood, including infrastructure development, power, power transmission, transformer substations, and water supply. She stressed that China Eximbank was fully confident about Ethiopia’s long-term economic development, and willing to support its social and economic development. She also expressed China Eximbank’s commitment towards deepening cooperation for mutual benefit and win-win results, and contributing to sustainable economic and social development of Ethiopia.
