During Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s official visit to Indonesia, China Eximbank signed a loan agreement for the Toll Road Development of Cileunyi-Sumedang-Dawuan Phase III Project an

Implementation Agreement on Infrastructure Financing Cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and Ministry of National Development Planning on 7 May.

Stretching over a distance of 10.58 kilometers, the phase-III project is an important part of the 60-kilometer-long Bandung Expressway Project, which links Bandung, the country’s third largest city, to the international airport of West Java. This project is given top priority for the country’s economic development. Upon completion, the project will effectively improve the traffic network of West Java, alleviate local traffic congestion, facilitate the delivery of goods and materials, aid personnel exchanges along the expressway, and play a significant role in promoting social and economic development of Indonesia, and China-Indonesia trade and economic cooperation. Prior to this, China Eximbank had already supported the Phase-I and Phase-II Bandung expressway projects.

Moreover, the signing of implementation agreement for cooperation on infrastructure financing will not only allow the Bank to step up cooperation with the Indonesian government, but also implement the infrastructure financing memorandum between the two governments at a faster pace. It will also help build consensus on relevant working mechanisms and optimize work procedures.

Besides being a key hub on the ancient maritime silk road, Indonesia is also the place where the concept of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road was first put forward. Over the years, the Bank has continuously worked to meet the financing needs of Indonesia for infrastructure development by making full use of its role as a policy bank. Going forward, the Bank will continue to discuss the priorities and modalities of cooperation with the Indonesia side and add new content to bilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
