China Eximbank Signed Concessional Loan Agreement with the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan

On 1 September 2017, in the presence of Tajikistani President Rakhmon, Sun Ping, Vice President of China Eximbank, and Kulponi, Finance Minister of Tajikistan, signed the Concessional Loan Agreement on Tajikistani Central Area 500KV Power Transmission and Distribution Project.

The project is to construct two 500KV single-loop electric transmission lines with the length of 100 kilometers respectively from Capital Dushanbe to Obi Gam Area, and to expand two outgoing line intervals of the 500 KV substation in Dushanbe. The project is expected to bring good social and economic benefits, help solve the problem of insufficient power supply in the central area and northeastern mountainous area, and enhance the safety and stability of national grid operation. The project is conducive to promoting power connectivity, boosting economic growth and improving local people's living standards.

China Eximbank and Tajikistani Government have engaged in financial cooperation for more than ten years. Nearly 20 projects have been successfully launched in Tajikistan in areas of energy, transportation, chemical industry and metallurgy with the provision of concessional facilities from China Eximbank. Those projects are of great significance for Tajikistan's economy and people’s livelihood. The year 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tajikistan. The signing of the loan agreement marks new progress of China and Tajikistan’s joint efforts in building the Belt and Road Initiative and in promoting the power connectivity.
