China Eximbank held Mid-Year Working Conference of 2017 from July 20 to July 21. The two-day’s conference reviewed the bank’s overall performance in the first half of 2017, made general arrangement for the second half of the year, and formulated work plans for implementing the requirements of the Fifth National Financial Work Conference.
Hu Xiaolian, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Eximbank, addressed the conference. She indicated that the Fifth National Financial Work Conference held on July 14 and 15 was of great significance against the backdrop of the sluggish global economy and China’s entry into the “New Normal” stage. President Xi Jinping’s remarks at the Conference summarized accomplishments China has achieved since the 18th CPC National Congress, identified financial risks confronting the country, and made comprehensive work arrangements on the basis of three major tasks at current stage, namely “serving the real economy, containing financial risks, and deepening financial reforms”. With such guiding principles in mind, Hu Xiaolian put forward four concrete guidelines for China Eximbank to better fulfill its mandate. First, the Bank shall fully play its role as a policy bank and stick to its mission of serving the real economy, especially sectors with strategic importance and weak links in China’s economy. Second, the Bank shall take a firm stance in controlling and dissolving financial risks. Third, the Bank shall continue to push forward financial reform. Last but not least, the Bank shall always hold high the leadership of the CPC and strengthen its own Party work.
Liu Liange, Deputy Party Secretary and President of China Eximbank, summarized the Bank’s performance in the first half of 2017 on the basic tone of seeking progress while maintaining stability. He said the Bank had managed to take initiative in implementing government polices and serving the real economy. It focused on expanding its business with effective risk control schemes, and achieved stable credit expansion in key sectors. Liu Liange also raised requirements for the work in the coming months of 2017.
Yu Xuejun, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of China Eximbank, analyzed key risk management tasks of the Bank in line with the spirit of the Fifth National Financial Work Conference. He emphasized that the board of supervisors will step up its supervision role in the Bank’s corporate governance, make sure the Bank fully operates in accordance with regulatory requirements and give full play to its policy financing functions.
