China Eximbank Signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with China Three Gorges Corporation

On 26 September 2017, China Eximbank, represented by Vice President Mr.Yuan Xingyong and China Three Gorges Corporation, represented by General Accountant Mr. Yang Ya signed a strategic

cooperation agreement worth RMB100 billion. Ms. Hu Xiaolian, Chairman of China Eximbank and Mr. Lu Chun, Chairman of China Three Gorges Corporation witnessed the signing ceremony.

According to the agreement, the two parties will establish a stable strategic partnership on a long-term basis. China Eximbank, with its extensive international presence and rich experience in investing and financing, will fully leverage its role as a policy financial institution to offer comprehensive support to China Three Gorges Corporation’s domestic and overseas business operation in such sectors as hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic, power grid, etc., in an effort to build the company into a top-tier large-scale clean energy group in the international marketplace.

Before the signing ceremony, the two sides had friendly exchanges on jointly serving national strategy and strengthening bilateral practical collaboration. Chairman Hu Xiaolian of China Eximbank briefed on the latest development of the Bank and stated that the Bank will continue to provide policy financial support and diversified financial services that cover the whole industry chain in forms of investment, credit, trade finance, consultancy and financial derivatives to facilitate the Corporation’s domestic and overseas development strategies. It is hoped that the cooperative partnership between the two sides could be further enhanced by drawing on each other’s advantages in terms of international business layout and experience in developing hydropower and renewable energy projects, so as to jointly make new and greater contribution to the building of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Chairman Lu Chun of China Three Gorges Corporation expressed special thanks for China Eximbank’s support to a number of key projects implemented by the company in recent years such as equity investment in Duke Energy International Brazil Holdings project, Pakistan Karot Hydropower Project, Kenya Power Transmission Improvement Project and Guinea Kaleta hydroelectric Power Plant Project, emphasizing that the company is looking forward to the Bank’s all-round and continued support to its outbound investment and overseas project contracting, in an effort to jointly facilitate international cooperation on production capacity and equipment manufacturing and open the country wider to the outside world.

The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement came at time when China Eximbank is endeavoring to comprehensively implement its strategy of providing better services to its strategic clients and China Three Gorges Corporation is making efforts to push forward reform under the instruction of the central government. Under such new circumstances, the two sides will engage in overall cooperation and make concerted efforts to implement the 13th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development and the Belt and Road Initiative from a strategic and long-term perspective.
